OBU Theatre Kicks Off Season with The Tempest
October 27, 2006
William Shakespeare’s The Tempest will open Oklahoma Baptist University Theatre’s season. The play will be presented November 2-4 at 7:30 p.m., November 9 at 8 p.m., and November 11-12 at 2:30 p.m., in Craig-Dorland Theatre, located in Shawnee Hall.
Believed to be Shakespeare’s final play written for performance, The Tempest blends lyrical romance with a quest for revenge.
“In one of the most theatrically challenging plays, Shakespeare creates a memorable story of the search for forgiveness and its transforming powers,” said Dr. Joyce Aldridge, OBU assistant professor of theatre.
Other cast members include Patrick Little, a junior theatre major from Enid, Okla., as Ferdinand; Jacob Louis, a junior theatre major from Corpus Christi, Texas, as Alonso; and Rebecca Barksdale, a junior theatre major from Houston, Texas, as Sebastine.
Tickets can be purchased by calling the OBU Box Office at (405) 878-2347 or visiting the box office located in Sarkeys Telecommunication Center, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for students and $7 for adults.
