Shawnee and Oklahoma City

OBU is located in Shawnee, about 35 minutes east of Oklahoma City. OBU has the great community atmosphere a small city provides, and easy access to everything a major city offers.
One example of the community atmosphere that OBU gains from Shawnee is pictured above. It's an event called Spotlight on Shawnee, which happens each August in downtown. Area businesses, churches and organizations set up booths to welcome in the new school year. (They also hand out great giveaways!)

OBU's closeness to Oklahoma City means students can take a short trip to find concerts, events, and NBA basketball action at the Ford Center. Downtown Oklahoma City also offers Bricktown, which includes a variety of popular restaurants, a major theater complex, a canal, and one of the nation's best minor league baseball stadiums. Oklahoma City also has a brand new museum, and the Civic Center Music Hall, which hosts touring Broadway shows. There is much more available in the greater Oklahoma City area, include popular local and national chain restaurants, museums, shopping, and year-round festivals and events.
