Dr. M. Nicole Warehime received her doctorate in Sociology from the University of Oklahoma in 2008. Her main research interests fall into three areas. First, her dissertation considers various aspects of child health and well-being in relation to the health insurance coverage of the child and the family. Stemming from this research, Dr. Warehime researches the family structure and the likelihood of health insurance coverage and subsequent effects of the type of coverage.

Second, Dr. Warehime's research focuses on male and female fertility issues in relation to the sexual behaviors of adults. Specifically, her research centers on the effects of surgical sterilization (i.e., vasectomies and tubal ligations) and sexual satisfaction of American adults.

Third, Dr. Warehime investigates domestic violence, child and adult spousal abuse. Dr. Warehime has been involved in an intensive training program investigating child abuse and neglect. This training has sparked her research in child fatalities of Oklahoma. Dr. Warehime's research has been published in The Journal of Reproductive Medicine, International Journal of Sexual Health, and Population Research and Policy Review.

In addition, Dr. Warehime's sociological background led her to Turkey where she was an American representative for the International Center for Peace with the U.S. Department of State. There she assisted in leading a workshop to develop comparative research design for a rural needs assessment across six villages in Syria, Iraq, and Turkey. She informed methods and faciliated consensus among scientists of the three countries.
